Phew, it's been a couple of days since I updated. let's see..
I didn't work that much this week. The past month was just especially hectic because it was a time of transition.
Some good news, my parents found my celphone, which I had thought I had lost. It was on top of the washing machine. Even more promisingly, an officer from the Stanford po-po had called my cel phone while it was lost to tell me that a camera matching the description of mine had been found.. so I may have lucked out after all..!
Still, I've been feeling a little down lately..
Um.. Oh yea and last Thursday I went to the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3. I spent a few hours wandering around the booths and met up with my buddy Hidemi, who got in because he's a Disney intern. it was the usual sensory overload of sights and sounds, and quite hectic. I think I've gotten jaded from going every year.
Okay, rant time. One thing that really bugged me was that the industry as a whole is getting less and less original. I saw countless sequels, francise titles (Final Fantasy 12, anyone), and titles based off of popular television shows, and even movies that haven't come out yet. Hell, I haven't been keeping too current with the video game world and *I* recognized most of the titles. The explanation, from what I've heard, is that as gamers get older, they still play, but they get less adventurous and willing to try new stuff. Plus I also suspect the gaming industry has been hit with the same bugs that the movie industry has.. big-budget-itis and sequel-itis and the resulting lack of creativity. I hope it's just a phase and not permanent.
