Stanford Eric
This picture was taken last September, during the Stanford Law activities fair for new students. But I had totally forgotten about it. Good times indeed! Makes me a little sad, as my Stanford e-mail account is set to expire in two weeks.

(Yes, that's my friend, co-Editor-in-Chief, and future bar trip companion Henry.)

Fast Times at the Technology Law Review

i wish it weren't the end of the year

Seriously. Because I just have

too

much

stuff

to do before I take my finals and start my summer job. It's ridiculous.

One particular thorn in my side right about now is my STLR Notes Editor job. While I think I have a good handle on my job duties, the mediocre quality of many of the Notes submissions combined with their high volume is starting to frustrate me. Why are all these authors trying to foist their POS works, which are either long and unoriginal or are so carelessly written so as not to even qualify as legal scholarship, upon me? I have to assign two reviewers to each article, and I only have six total, who are always in varying states of availability. I don't want to overwork them, and I've been doing some of the reviews myself, too.. argh.

In short, I think the incentives built into the student-run law journal system encourages authors to submit as widely as possible, because there's absolutely no cost to them. I have had sketchy authors push review of their articles (expedited, even, which is a bigger pain) even when they have already *accepted* other offers of publication. I even had one guy who tried to pass himself off as a law student, when he had already received his J.D. and was studying for his L.L.M., so he could get his article reviewed by my Notes committee instead of the standard submissions committee. (His article was a total piece of crap too and was clearly some dumb paper he submitted for some class.) These sort of things piss me off.

In other news, I ate at Wilbur Dining today -- just down the street from me, but I never bothered to do it before in my life. You have to pay a la carte and the prices are not cheap, but for 6.95 (in Cardinal Dollars dining hall money) I got a bowl of fresh-boiled, fresh-cooked pasta in alfredo sauce with chicken, olives, mushrooms, and artichokes.. that was definitely worth it.
